First pro’ success for Filippo Magli. The 24-year-old Tuscan of Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizané, fourth at the Italian championships, won the Muur Classic Geraardsbergen, 177 kilometers and several passes on the famous Grammont Wall (for years a symbol of the Tour of Flanders), a Classification 1.2 race. Magli beat Briton Harry Birchill and Dutchman Peter Schulting in a sprint. Fun fact: the 2022 edition of this test had been won by… Mathieu Van der Poel. Here are Magli’s words, “A tough sprint, the last three hundred meters in particular. But I am really happy that I managed to win. The race was full of attacks from the first bars, as it often happens in Belgium. I, Luca Colnaghi who was with me in the breakaway, and all my teammates made sure we were ready. Now it’s party time, I’m really very happy.”
